We really are here to help you!
We understand that the thought of a Hospice referral can be frightening. We respect and understand these feelings but please be assured that we affirm life and recognise dying as a normal process. We neither hasten nor postpone death. Our main intention is to assist you and your family to maintain life as normally as possible; to assist with pain and other symptoms and if you wish to provide physical, emotional, social and spiritual support.
We believe that the quality of life for people with terminal illnesses should be made as positive as possible. We provide specialised palliative care to enable patients to remain in their own home until they die. Our care is focused on the family as much as the patient as we assist them through this period. The Hospice nursing team works alongside the patient’s own doctor, the Hospice Medical Consultant and other professional services.
The goal is that in most cases people can be cared for in their own homes if that is their wish.
As a member of Hospice New Zealand, Hibiscus Hospice follows prescribed standards of care and the International Hospice Philosophy.
Our Philosophy
